Capacity Building & Social Justice

Capacity building, as defined by Ann Philbin are the “the skills, instincts, abilities, processes and resources that organizations and communities need to survive, adapt, and thrive in the fast-changing world.” Critical thinking is a quality to be celebrated and encouraged, for the benefit of humanity.

Social Justice, fair and just relations between the individual and society, is interwoven into the community of teachers, students, and parents at TKG. We believe it will create the foundation for a lifetime of inquiry into our own understanding and the desire to help those working toward justice at every level by nurturing these skills:

• Cooperation with others
• Respecting the rights of others
• Developing personal values with minimal bias or influence
• Considering and listening to different perspectives
• Caring about, empathizing with and helping others
• Accepting and understanding differences
• Taking alternative approaches to solve problems
• Communicating confidently with peers and adults
• Developing diverse leadership skills
