Week 15: New Year.  New Plans.
Discoveries at TKG
Dear Families,
New year. New plans.  This week we officially added “chair building” to the schedule.  Currently it takesplace before opening meeting.  Chair ships and groovy snack shacks are made and the escape pod chairs blast off and rendezvous for our opening meeting.  Clean up is slowly becoming second nature.  And show and tell was added to our closing meeting plan. This week our conversations ranged from what we did over winter break to how we communicate with our siblings when they want to play.  We chased our shadows, made them disappear in bigger shadows, traced them and other shadows, cut snowflakes and made snowflake shadows.  Along the way we reconnected with each other in positive ways.  We shared snacks, traded shapes, and played together. On Thursday we read that there are 17 penguin species, and in “Stop That Pickle” 17 toasted almonds chased the pickle.  Once a student drew 17 eggs in their journal I declared that 17 was the number of the day!  (And on Friday we read that the one day on the moon takes the same time as 17 earth days.)Next week we will begin exploring space.  With such a vast topic we will begin with comets and meteor showers as they have been prevalent in our workshop stories.  I also have some space looking rocks to share on park day.  We will see where the Gardeners take us on our space adventure beginning on Monday at Ryan Park!  3…2…1…Blastoff!

Happy Learning,
Michelle Goldbach-Johnson
